The tenth of my Les Miserables tarot cards, Major Arcana.
Here we have the Hermit card - see the original card here: [link] - the card represents caution, need for prudence, a decision, needing to think about the inner world, isolation from others, foolish obstinacy and the reliance on one's own resources that are inadequate.
For Les Miserables, I picked Valjean, in the scene in which he is deciding whether or not to let an innocent man go to jail in his stead or to turn himself in. (A scene which, while working - somewhat - in the book, is in the musical what I describe as the "Valjean is a selfish whiner who ought to stop justifying it with religion" scene...)
NOTE: All of the Les Miserables Tarot cards have two symbols at the top; the one on the left is a flower in an color symbolizing and identifying the character, the other is a symbol that signifies something about the character. See more info here: [link]
